About Us

MYCAREERMOVE was founded in 2002 by Alan Giblin in Newcastle, NSW, Australia.

It is a consultancy whose main areas of focus are career development, outplacement, talent acquisition, and human resources. Alan has consulted to individuals, small businesses, not-for-profit organisations, government, and multinational corporations.

Alan has had a diverse working life and career journey with over 30 years of experience in the career development field providing career advice and guidance to people in all walks of life and in many different occupations. He has worked with school leavers through to mature workers. He has worked as a counsellor with TAFE NSW and also as a rehabilitation counsellor. In other facets of his career he has also coordinated a Lifeline telephone counselling centre, been a part-time TAFE teacher, and owned and operated a coffee shop with his wife.

His main strengths are his ability to engage, listen to, communicate and collaborate with people at all levels and build relationships. This is a function of both his personality and his broad range of experience.

He also has experience consulting to large organisations, leading the end-to-end recruitment process, and in outplacement and other specialised HR projects.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science (majoring in psychology) and is a professional member of the Career Development Association of Australia. He is an accredited Myers-Briggs Type Indicator ® practitioner. He is a JP and also currently a board member of Hunter Multicultural Communities.
